Legacy Sports Coaches’ Code of Conduct
As a coach, my conduct during games directly influences the experience of my athletes, the reputation of the team, and the overall program. I am dedicated to maintaining a standard of behavior that reflects positively on myself, my team, and the sport. By adhering to these Code of Conduct Guidelines, I commit to fostering an atmosphere of sportsmanship, respect, and fair play.
I understand that my behavior on the sidelines is a reflection of the values I instill in my athletes. Therefore, I pledge to:
· Display respect for opposing coaches, athletes, officials, and spectators, regardless of the game's outcome.
· Refrain from engaging in negative comments, foul language, gestures, or actions that could incite hostility or disrupt the game.
· Teach my athletes to win and lose graciously, celebrating victories with humility and accepting defeats with dignity.
· Address officials courteously and professionally, refraining from disputing or criticizing their decisions. Encourage my athletes to respect and follow the instructions of the officials, even when disagreements arise.
· Find a role for all players and keep them engaged and active in the rotation of substitutions.
· Provide players an opportunity to play different positions and put them in situations that will benefit their growth and experience.
· Not “run up the score” on opponents.
· Avoid cell phone usage during team activities.
· Avoid all inappropriate touching, physical contact, interactions, or conversations with players.
Breaches of the coaches code of conduct may result in my removal from this coaching position and program.
