Coding Sports Camp Spotlight: Minecraft Modding & Battlebots

Daniel KANE January 22, 2018

In this week’s Summer Camp spotlight we check out the week of July 9th in our Coding Sports Camp in Oak Park. This week grades 1-4 will be doing Minecraft Modding and Multi-Sport Madness, while grades 4-7 will be doing Battlebots and Multi-Sport Madness.

Current Grades 1st-4th – July 9-13th: Minecraft Modding & Sports Camp

Legacy Sports and Code Play Learn are partnering to create a week long, full day camp that will engage your child’s mind and body. This camp is specifically designed for students who are currently in 1st-4th grade.

Campers will spend half of the day learning how to build their own Minecraft MODS.  Each day we will build MODS that campers can play in their own Minecraft Games as they travel through their Minecraft World.  During the week campers will learn how to build MODS for Blocks, Tools, Food, Mobs, Minions, Portals, Weapons and more. Our Modding tool is a graphical JAVA tool that allows students to create complex Mods.

This camp is ideal for new Modders and returning Modders, as we’ve created dozens of new Mods to explore and build.

Campers will spend the other half of the day engaged in a variety of athletic activities, featuring dozens of Multi-Sport Madness games like Treasure Island, Hand Hockey, Illinois Jones, Countdown Dodgeball, Battleship, Capture the Flag and soccer. These activities ensure that campers learn how to communicate with each other and work as a team to accomplish their goals.

Current Grades 4th-7th  – July 9-13th: BattleBot Engineering & Sports Camp

Legacy Sports and Code Play Learn are partnering to create a week long, full day camp that will engage your child’s body and mind. This camp is specifically designed for students who are currently in 4th-7th grades.

For one half of the day, campers will work in teams of two to build a variety of BattleBots to use in challenges like Race Car, Kicker, and Whacker.  The camp will culminate with kids building their own BattleBot for competition. We apply a Problem Based Learning approach that enables each camper to apply fundamental engineering concepts as they build their Bots.

Campers will spend the other half of the day engaged in a variety of athletic activities. We offer dozens of Multi-Sports Madness games like Treasure Island, Hand Hockey, Illinois Jones, Countdown Dodgeball, Battleship, Capture the Flag and soccer. These activities ensure that campers learn how to communicate with each other and work as a team to accomplish their goals.

Our camps will run each day from 8:30am-4:00pm.  We ask that each camper bring their own lunch. Please remember to exclude any foods that contain any nuts.

Legacy Sports activities will take place at The Tennis and Fitness Centre located at 301 West Lake Street. Code Play Learn's activities will take place across the street at 132 N. Ridgeland Avenue. The campers will be walked between locations by staff from Legacy Sports.

Space is limited to the first 15 campers. --> Sign up here…
